Duvivier Architects is committed to sustainability in all aspects of our projects, which includes architecture, map making, site restoration and environmental education. Our work emphasizes the integrated relationships between the built and the natural environments. By demonstration, we hope to persuade others that ecological thinking and acting is a viable, economically feasible choice. Our future depends on our ability to reduce, reuse, recycle and care.

DUVIVIER ARCHITECTS provides a full range of design services, including architectural design of new homes, commercial buildings, remodels, urban design and planning of new communities, neighborhood revitalization and ecological mapping. Our firm emphasizes the interdependent relationship between the natural and built environments. At Duvivier Architects our goal is to build shelters and communities for our growing society, while minimizing the impact of the construction on the land and local resources. Projects incorporate ecological design strategies such as passive solar energy efficiencies, water retention/recycling and use of non-toxic/recycled building materials and highlight environmental features including habitat preservation and restoration.

Dafna Kohn received her Masters of Arts in Geography from California State University at Los Angeles. She has five years experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and a strong interest in applying GIS and remote sensing technologies to studying ecosystem processes. In 1999 she joined a multidisciplinary project, funded by NSF, which focused on understanding the affects of disturbance regimes on chaparral vegetation in the Santa Monica Mountains. Her continued interest in the Santa Monica Mountains led to employment with the National Park Service as a GIS technician. She joined Duvivier Architects in January of 2001. Ms. Kohn also teaches GIS at Mt. San Antonio Community College and continues to be a part of the Green Map team. As a teacher, she guides students to an understanding of humanity’s place as part of the natural complex.
